"mazda616" (mazda616)

$19 on Amazon. Voila.
It has two cords, one plugs into the cigarette lighter for power and the other plugs in to the auxiliary port for sound. My car has the aux port and an extra cigarette lighter outlet in the center console, so the wires are all hidden and it looks really neat.
I made two phone calls with it and listened to music and it works great. Only downside is the car stereo has to be in AUX mode for it to work. Oh well. Cheaper and less tacky looking than an aftermarket head unit.

They also make Bluetooth versions of those cassette adapters. Mine’s great, sound quality is excellent and it only needs to be charged for an hour or two once a week even though I use it a LOT. The one I have has a hatch that pops open to reveal a mic on a short stiff wire that pokes out of the cassette deck so you can make calls.

I haven’t quite figured out why they don’t use the cassette drive wheel as a dynamo to charge the thing

No but you could pop it into this cassette-to-8-track adapter.

My girlfriend has one just like it, except grey. Pretty good transmission, too.

I thought this was a joke at first. I wish I knew about this! I switched out the OEM cassette deck on my Miata after those cassettes with the AUX cables kept dying on me.

I got one a couple years ago actually. I keep it in my SL. The CD changer in the trunk is less than convenient when on the go, but the tape deck is right in the dash!
Heck, if you have a mid 2000’s CLK, you can still use one of these, the cassette deck is hidden behind part of the radio face.
